Stewed sweet and sour cabbage


1 small or 1/2 of the big cabbage, I prefer red, but you can use white one
1 small onion
3 tbsp oil
4 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp white vinegar
pinch of caraway (optional)

Roughly chop the onion and cabbage. Put oil in large pot and brown onions. Add salt, sugar, vinegar and caraway and heat all together. Put your cabbage in the pot, pour over with about 2 cups of boiling water and stew under the lid for about 40 minutes. Occasionaly stir. When there is only a little water left and cabbage is "al dente" you can finish seasoning with more salt/sugar if it is needed.
